One developer, the whole app
Every part of SurfMap, the forecast, the map, the guides, the Apple Watch app and this website, is written and maintained by Guillaume Bernos. There is no company behind the contact address and no support desk: when you write, the message lands with him.
The app has been on the App Store since August 2025 and is on Google Play too, in seven languages. The current version is 2.6, released in October 2026.
What SurfMap stands for
A forecast that adapts to your level. The same wave is rated differently for a beginner and for an advanced surfer, and every rating is explained in plain words, on a five-step scale from bad to great.
Spots under their local name. More than 5,000 breaks around the world, each called what the people who surf it call it, with the nickname travellers know right below.
No ads, ever. SurfMap is paid for by its subscriptions, not by advertising, and your data is not for sale.
Where the numbers come from
The forecast is computed for every spot from weather and wave models, the tides from each spot's own tidal constants, and the ratings are SurfMap's own method. The spot database is maintained by hand. The licences behind the site and the charts are listed on one page.
Corrections welcome
Local surfers know their spot better than any database. A wrong name, a wrong level, a missing break: say so, and it gets fixed in the app.
